What is your film about?
The main characters, two petty criminals, Nemesio (Jorge Adrian Espindola) and El Araña (Tenoch Huerta), are involved in a murder.El Araña takes a bag with many bills and hide it. His friend is the only one who knows the site. Then Nesio (as they call with love) meets a prostitute, Inma (Claudette Maille), who also had an additional job as a wrestling star to get money. The powerful and voluptuous woman turns Nesio into her unconditional lover, reversing the traditional roles of machismo, precipitating with her seduction. On the other hand, El Araña who is going to get drunk, meets a fat man (Cesar Jaime, "El Raton") who takes him home and tries to take advantage of that initially, while planning how to be independent: to become a distributor with the stolen money.
Hope reborn in a hurted Inma who fail as wife and mother when Nesio wants her to be part of his life. The hope encouraged, Nesio who feels good is staying by her side. The hope makes El Raton to drink a beer while is suffering because El Araña is gone, there’s no place for feelings. There will be some releases without any relevance because fate is already sealed and as the drunk one says in the film: "No one can escape its destiny."

How is it working at festivals? Did you get any award?
Better than expected. The film has been in several festivals around the world, mainly: 10th NY International Latino Film Festival , 16th San Diego Latino Film Festival, in USA; the 14th Kolkata Film Festival, in Calcutta, India; 24° Torino International GLBT Film Festival, en Turin, Italy or the 49° Zlín Film Festival in Czech Republic. In Mexico participated at film festivals in Monterrey, Guadalajara, Acapulco and Mexico City.
-Won in the 2009, the Diosa de Plata "Francisco Pina" for best film of the year proposed by PECIME Mexico.
-Won the Critics Award "Warriors of the Press" for the best film in Mexican Fiction: 4th FICA (Festival Acapulco).
Won the Audience Award for" Best Film "and" Best Actress "festival, sponsored by the magazine Libido during the: XII Festival Mix Platinum (Mexico City).
- And was nominated for best "Original Music" and "Best Male Actor" Ariel Awards 2009 by the Mexican Academy of Cinematographic Arts and Sciences, AC (the equivalent of Goya in Mexico).

Who are the actors and how it was your relationship with them during preparation and shooting the film?
Mainly: Jorge Adrian Espindola, Tenoch Huerta, Cesar Jaime and Claudette Maille
("Como agua para Chocolate") and I can say that my relationship was generally very good, it was intense and committed by all.

How was the production process?
It was a complicated film because there were too many locations and cast members. We didn’t have much money or at least we couldn’t expend what we had. Working with people I know let me optimize. Professional people normally do an extraordinary process.

Are you coming to Lesgaycinemad to introduce it?
Unfortunately I can’t be present, but I’m very happy it is shown in Madrid, my family is here, and I'm also Spanish. My cousins and uncles can now see it.

¿De qué trata tu película?
Los protagonistas, dos delincuentes de poca monta, Nemesio (Jorge Adrián Espíndola) y el Araña (Tenoch Huerta), se ven involucrados en un asesinato. El Araña toma una bolsa con muchos billetes y la lleva a esconder. Su amigo y cómplice es el único que conoce el sitio. Luego, Nesio (como le llaman de cariño) conoce a una prostituta, Inma (Claudette Maillé), quien para redondear su presupuesto doméstico tiene como oficio complementario el de estrella de la lucha libre. La enérgica y voluptuosa mujer enmascarada transforma a Nesio en su incondicional amoroso, revirtiendo los papeles tradicionales del machismo, precipitando con su seducción.
Por otro lado el Araña va a emborracharse, conoce a un gordo (César Jaime, "El Ratón") que lo lleva a su casa y del que se intenta aprovecharse en un principio, mientras planea la manera de independizarse: convertirse en distribuidor mayorista con el dinero robado.
La esperanza renace en la dolida Inma que tiene un fracaso previo como esposa y madre cuando Nesio quiere que forme parte de su vida. La esperanza anima al ingenuo Nesio porque siente paz al estar al lado de Inma. La esperanza hace que el Ratón tome una cerveza mientras pasa el tiempo sufriendo y el Araña no regresa. Sin embargo, no hay lugar para el sentimiento. Alrededor de la esperanza está la traición… por ocasión. Comienza a desencadenarse una serie de liberaciones aparentes que no tendrán mayor trascendencia porque el destino se selló y como expresan unos borrachines en la película, haciendo eco de un lugar común escuchado en otras cintas, o como base de ellas, "nadie puede escapar a su destino".

¿Cómo está funcionando en festivales? ¿Ha recibido algún premio? ¿Algún otro mérito destacable?
Mejor de lo esperado. La película ha estado en varios festivales por el mundo entero, principalmente: el 10th NY International Latino Film Festival y el 16th San Diego Latino Film Festival, en EEUU; el 14th Kolkata Film Festival, en Calcuta, India; el 24° Torino International GLBT Film Festival, en Turín, Italia o el 49° Zlín Film Festival en la República Checa. En México participó en festivales de cine de Monterrey, Guadalajara, Acapulco y la Ciudad de México.
-Ganó en este 2009 la Diosa de Plata "Francisco Pina" a la mejore propuesta cinematográfica del año en México por PECIME.
-Ganó el Premio de la Crítica “Guerreros de la Prensa” a la Mejor Película Mexicana de Ficción en el: 4to FICA (Festival Internacional de Acapulco).
-Ganó el Premio del Público a la “Mejor Película” y a la “Mejor Actriz” del festival, patrocinados por la Revista Libido durante el: XII Festival Mix Platino (Ciudad de México).
- Y estuvo nominada a Mejor “Música Original” y “Mejor Co-actuación Masculina” de los Premios Ariel 2009 de la Academia Mexicana de Artes y Ciencias Cinematográficas, A.C. (el equivalente a los Goya en México).

¿Quiénes son los actores y qué tal fue tu relación con ellos durante la preparación y rodaje de la película?
Principalmente: Jorge Adrián Espíndola, Tenoch Huerta, César Jaime y Claudette Maillé (“Como Agua para Chocolate”) y puedo decir que mi relación en general fue muy buena, hubo un trabajo intenso y comprometido por parte de todos.

¿Cómo fue el proceso de producción?
Fue una película complicada, ya que había demasiadas locaciones y reparto. No teníamos mucho presupuesto o por lo menos, no podíamos pasarnos del que teníamos. El trabajar con gente que conozco regularmente me permite apurar los tiempos y optimizar. La gente profesional normalmente hace extraordinario el proceso.

¿Vienes a LesGaiCineMad en Noviembre para presentarla?
Desgraciadamente no podré estar presente, pero soy muy feliz de que se proyecte en Madrid, mi familia es de acá, y soy español también. Ahora podrán verla mis primos y tíos.
