What is your film about?
My documentary short film is about the lesbian visibility. It claims how the homosexual woman becomes visible little by little in a society where people think about a man before a woman when talking about homosexuality.

How is it doing in the festival circuit? Has it received any awards? Any other merit?
It is working very well. It is a little-discussed topic and the sensitivity and closeness which “Cuarto Creciente” shows, I believe, it is the reason why, apart from being awarded twice (Best Spanish Work in LesGaiCineMad by the Audience, 2008; and Best Documentary in the Youth Video-Art Awards of the Madrid’s Community), this documentary short film has been screened in different Festivals of LGBT Cinema all around Spain. It has also been selected for festivals such as OutFestPerú or the IIIrd International Festival of Audiovisual Arts of Andalucía, among others.
It is the first work I do. In fact, I did it as a Dissertation of a Master in Production of Documentaries that I studied in 2007.

Who are the members of the cast and how was your relationship with them?
Well, I would not call them actors, since they do not play any role. They are just people who tell me their experiences and knowledge about the topic. For instances, Isidro García is the expert voice which guided me since the beginning to have the concepts clear. And the girls, Tamara, Isa, Mamen and Ana, are the ones who opened themselves to talk to me about their feelings, their family confrontation and about how they see the situation of the lesbian woman in the current society. My relationship with them all was perfect from the beginning until the end, and that is what we see in the documentary, it is close and honest.

How was the production process?
I was very lucky, because I did not have to look for my characters, nor to convince them to tell me their experiences (which is the most complicated part of making a documentary), because them themselves showed up in my life and everything went just perfect. Even the music was not any problem because a friend of mine who plays the guitar composed it for me.

Are you coming to LesGaiCineMad in November to present your film?
Yes, I am going to be there the first weekend of November (29, 30, 31 y 1).

¿De qué trata tu película?
Mi corto documental trata sobre la visibilidad lésbica. Pretende mostrar cómo la mujer homosexual poco a poco va haciéndose visible en una sociedad donde se piensa antes en un hombre que en una mujer cuando hablamos de homosexualidad.

¿Cómo está funcionando en festivales? ¿Ha recibido algún premio?
Está funcionando muy bien. Es un tema que está poco tratado y la sensibilidad y cercanía que muestra Cuarto Creciente, creo, ha hecho que además de recibir dos premios (Premio del Público Mejor Obra Española en LesGaiCineMad, 2008 y Mejor Documental en Premios Video Arte Joven de la Comunidad de Madrid) se proyecte en diversas Muestras de Cine LGBT alrededor de España y haya sido seleccionado para Festivales como OutFestPerú o el III Festival Internacional de Artes Audiovisuales de Andalucía, entre otros.

¿Algún otro mérito destacable?
Es el primer trabajo que hago. De hecho lo hice como proyecto de fin de curso en un Master de Realización de Documentales que cursé en 2007.

¿Quiénes son los actores y qué tal fue tu relación con ellos durante la preparación y rodaje de la película?
Son simplemente personas que me cuentan sus experiencias y conocimientos sobre el tema. Por ejemplo, Isidro García es la voz experta que me guió desde un principio a tener los conceptos claros. Y ellas, Tamara, Isa, Mamen y Ana son las que se abrieron a hablarme de sus sentimientos, de sus enfrentamientos familiares y de cómo ven ellas la situación de la mujer lesbiana en la sociedad actual. Mi relación con todos ellos fue perfecta desde el principio hasta el final, y eso se ve en el documental, que es cercano y honesto.

¿Cómo fue el proceso de producción?
Tuve mucha suerte, porque no tuve que buscar a mis personajes, ni convencerlos de que me contaran sus experiencias, (que es lo más complicado de un documental), sino que ellos mismos aparecieron en mi vida y todo salió rodado. Incluso con la música tampoco tuve problema pues un amigo mío que toca la guitarra, la compuso para mí.

¿Vienes a LesGaiCineMad en Noviembre para presentarla?
Si, voy a estar allí el primer fin de semana (29, 30, 31 y 1)
