What is your film about?
It´s a comedy about Susan who is Pablo´s girlfriend. But Pablo has just discovered he is gay and that he is in love with Javi, his best friend who at the same time is secretly going out with Susana. It is film about how you tell things and the different possibilities.

How is it doing in the festival circuit? Has it received any award? Any other merit?
It is doing well for a comedy which are usually not well appreciate in the festival circuits where there always prefer social dramas and what I call “stories with children”. Up until now we have received an RTVA award for Andalusian Audiovisual Creativity in Higuera en Corto where we were nicely welcomed, and the first award for Best short film in the “Paco Rabal” competition. Also a special merit by the jury in the I short film International Festival “Pilas en Corto”. But the most important thing is the effect that it has had with the media which has been a lot, with the press, radio and television.

Who are the members of the cast and how was your relationship with them?
It´s a small cast with only 4 actors but it’s a very good one. There´s Miki Nadal, well known for his work on television and three unknown actors: Pablo Fortes, Teresa Marting and Adrian Lopez. My relationship with them was great since we created a great working environment. I´ve never work with people of such level and popularity like Miki and it was great that he was just one of us and he didn´t mind signing autographs and getting pictures taken with whoever asked him. His work was amazing as you can see in the short film.

How was the production process?
It was easier that one would normally expect with such a small budged. Three weeks of pre-production, three days of filming in Malaga, very relax, and then the post-production. My idea of making a short film started because I have the script for a movie which everybody likes but no one makes up their mind on producing it even when is a small budged one. And in order to make my idea more known, I decided to make this short film. I called Miki Nadal - who´s involve in that other movie- to ask what he thought about the idea of making the short film— and without thinking he said yes. The rest came naturally. In Malaga there´s no such cinematography industry, only some small companies who make their own projects without being interested on collaborating with other big projects. So there are a lot of Indy People wishing to be part of and work with a team. So it was really easy to find a team that worked well and gave its best in such a short time.

Are you coming to LesGaiCineMad in November to present your film?
Yes, I´m going to be there for a few days presenting my short film in LesGaiCineMad, and also to see if there´s anyone who would like to know more about the other film.

¿De qué trata tu película?
Es una comedia sobre Susana que es la novia de Pablo, pero Pablo acaba de descubrir que es gay y que está enamorado de Javi, su mejor amigo, que, al mismo tiempo, está saliendo en secreto con Susana. Es sobre cómo se van a contar todo esto y las diferentes posibilidades.

¿Cómo está funcionando en festivales? ¿Ha recibido algún premio? ¿Algún otro mérito destacable?
Para una comedia, que normalmente no son muy apreciadas en el circuito de los festivales de cortos, donde siempre se prefieren los dramas sociales y lo que llamo "historias con niños" lo está haciendo bastante bien. De momento, hemos recibido el premio RTVA a la Creación Audivisual Andaluza en Higuera en Corto donde nos recibieron magníficamente, el Primer premio al mejor corto en el Certamen "Paco Rabal"- Cortema y una mención especial del jurado en el I Festival Internacional de Cortometrajes "Pilas en Corto". Pero, sobre todo es la repercusión en los medios de comunicación que ha sido mucha, tanto prensa escrita como radio o televisión.

¿Quiénes son los actores y qué tal fue tu relación con ellos durante la preparación y rodaje de la película?
Es un reparto muy pequeño de cuatro actores pero muy bueno. Está Miki Nadal, de sobra conocido por su trabajo en televisión y tres actores desconocidos: Pablo Fortes, Teresa Martín y Adrián López. Mi relación con ellos fue magnífica, se creó un ambiente de trabajo excepcional. Nunca había trabajado antes con alguien del nivel de popularidad de Miki y fue genial, era uno más de nosotros y no le importó estar firmando autógrafos y haciéndose fotos con todo el que se le acercó y su trabajo, de él y el resto fue estupendo como se puede ver en el corto.

¿Cómo fue el proceso de producción?
Bastante más sencillo de lo que normalmente se esperaba y para un presupuesto tan pequeño. Fueron tres semanas de pre-producción, tres días de rodaje en Málaga, muy tranquilos, y luego, la postproducción. Mi idea de hacer el corto era porque tengo un guión de un largo que a todo el mundo parece gustar pero que nadie se decide a producir a pesar que también es de muy bajo presupuesto y, para darlo conocer decidí hacer este corto. Llamé a Miki Nadal, que está involucrado en el largo a ver qué le parecía la idea y, sin pensárselo, dijo sí. El resto vino rodado, en Málaga no hay industria cinematográfica, sólo unas pequeñas compañías que hacen sus propios trabajos sin interesarse en colaborar con otros para mayores proyectos, así que hay mucha gente independiente deseosa de formar parte de un equipo y trabajar. Así que me fue muy fácil encontrar un grupo que se compenetró y dio lo mejor de ellos en muy poco tiempo.

¿Vienes a LesGaiCineMad en Noviembre para presentarla?
Sí, voy a pasar unos días en LesGaiCineMad presentando el corto y así ver si hubiera gente interesada en oír más sobre el largo.
