What is your film about?

Homo Baby Boom is the first documentary ever made in Spain about families with gay parents, and it shows the reality of two-moms and two-dads families. It alse shows how the legal changes in Spain in 2005 –same-sex marriage and adoption for gay and lesbian couples have improved their lives.

How is it doing in the festival circuit? Has it received any award? Any other merit?

Festivals in Spain. Europe and America have had a very positive response. The film has gotten three awards so far: Best Documentary at LesGaiCineAST, Best Documentary at Fic-Cat for shorts in Catalan, and Human Values Award at the Dunas Festival in Fuerteventura. It has also been shows at Torino LGBT Film Festival, Seattle Gay Film Festival, Llamale H, Fire Barcelona...

Besides that, is has been broadcast at Canal 33 (public TV in Catalonia) and Barcelona TV. And it is in DVD with a didactic guide which can be used in schools.

Who are the members of the cast and how was your relationship with them?

The cast are the members of three families with two mothers and three families with two fathers. I got to know you as we were shooting, and it was all a very natural process. I have even become friend of some of the families in the film.

How was the production process?

I spent at least two whole days with each family. The first hours of shooting were usually worthless, as it was hard for them to behave naturally, specially for the smaller kids. But after a while they got used to it and I got to capture they day-to-day routine. After that, when they were more confident, I did the interviews.

Are you coming to LesGaiCineMad in November to present your film?

I'll be there.

¿De qué trata tu película?

Homo Baby Boom es el primer documental realizado en España sobre familias homoparentales, y refleja la realidad de tres familias con dos madres lesbianas y tres familias con dos padres gays. Y explica, también, cómo les ha cambiado la vida desde la aprobación del matrimonio y la adopción para parejas homosexuales en 2005.

¿Cómo está funcionando en festivales? ¿Ha recibido algún premio? ¿Algún
otro mérito destacable?

La acogida en festivales, tanto españoles como europeos y americanos, está siendo muy positiva. Por el momento ha recibido tres premios: como mejor documental en LEsGaiCineAST, mejor documental en el festival Fic-Cat de cortometrajes en catalán, y premio valores humanos en el festival Dunas de Fuerteventura. También ha participado en Torino LGBT Film Festival, Seattle Gay Film Festival, Llamale H, Fire Barcelona...

Además, se ha emitido por el Canal 33 de la televisión autonómica de Catalunya y en Barcelona TV. Y está editado en DVD con guía didáctica que ya se está usando en algunas escuelas e institutos.

¿Quiénes son los actores y qué tal fue tu relación con ellos durante la
preparación y rodaje de la película?

Los protagonistas son tres familias con dos mamás y tres familias con dos papás. Les conocí prácticamente tal y como iba rodando, y fue todo muy natural. Con algunas de las familias he entablado una amistad que se ha prolongado más allá del documental.

¿Cómo fue el proceso de producción?
Pasé un mínimo de dos días completos con cada una de las familias. Normalmente, las primeras horas de grabación no valían, porque les costaba ser naturales, sobre todo a los niños más pequeños. Pero al cabo de un rato, se olvidaban de mí, y pude captar la cotidianeidad de su día a día. Y una vez que adquirían más confianza, realizaba las entrevistas.
