What is your film about?
My documentary Queer Spawn shows the life of several teenagers with gay or lesbian parents in the United States. It also shows ‘Family Week’ in Provincetown, the oldest meeting of homoparental families.

How is it doing in the festival circuit? Has it received any award? Any other merit?
Queer Spawn has been selected in over 40 festivals worldwide, and it has received several awards. It was also broadcasted in public televisions in New York and Barcelona.

Who are the members of the cast and how was your relationship with them?
The characters are teenagers that talk about how it is to grow up with two mothers or two fathers, which reactions they have had to face and how have they feel about their own sexual orientation.

How was the production process?
I got in touch with several families and I finally chose one in Manhattan and one in Texas, as that allowed to show the big differences within the United States. I also attended Family Week 2005, where I was able to interview several other 'queer spawn'.
This documentary was my final project for a MA at New York University, and I did the whole process on my own, from developing the idea to the final editing.

¿De qué trata tu película?
Queer Spawn es un documental que muestra la vida de varios adolescentes con padres gays o madres lesbianas en Estados Unidos. También aparece Family Week en Provincetown, que es el encuentro de familias homoparentales más veterano.

¿Cómo está funcionando en festivales? ¿Ha recibido algún premio? ¿Algún
otro mérito destacable?
Queer Spawn ha estado presente en más de 40 festivales en todo el mundo, y ha recibido una decena de premios. Además, se emitió en televisiones públicas de Nueva York y de Barcelona.

¿Quiénes son los actores y qué tal fue tu relación con ellos durante la
preparación y rodaje de la película?
Los protagonistas son adolescentes qué explican cómo les ha afectado crecer con dos madres o dos padres, a qué reacciones se han enfrentado y cómo se han sentido ante su propia sexualidad.

¿Cómo fue el proceso de producción?
Contacté con diversas familias y finalmente seleccioné a una de Manhattan y a una de Texas, porque así podía mostrar el contraste entre unas zonas y otras de Estados Unidos. Además, estuve presente durante Family Week 2005, donde pude entrevistar a muchos otros de los protagonistas.
Este documental fue mi proyecto de final de máster en New York University, y me encargué en solitario de todo el proceso, desde el desarrollo de la idea al montaje final.
