What is your film about?
"Dancing to Happiness" is a modern lesbian fairytale. I was inspired by fairytales like Cinderella my parents told me as a child. Because the ancient fairytales are always about heterosexual couples, I decided to create my own, where two women are aloud to fall in love: Anna is working as a cleaning lady. Every night she cleans Helen`s office. Helen is a high level broker working in the stock exchange. The two women live in different worlds and normally would never meet each other. However they happen to have enrolled on the same salsa course. Due to the lack of men, Anna and Helen have to dance together.

How is it doing in the festival circuit? Has it received any award? Any other merit?
"Dancing to Happiness" has not yet recieved any awards, but it is definitly a festival hit. Over the last year it has been shown in over sixty festivals around the world. There have been prestigious shortfilmfestivals like Uppsalla Kortfilmfestival in Sweden or Cameraimage in Lodz/ Poland, but also many lesbian/gay/transgender filmfestivals like Frameline in San Francisco / USA. The film found a distributor for North America (Canadian Filmmaker Distribution) and for the german speaking part of Europe (Edition Salzgeber). Now I`m looking out to find a distributor for spanish speaking countries.

Who are the members of the cast and how was your relationship with them?
Fiamma Maria Camesi plays the leading part of ANNA. She is a upcoming actress in Switzerland, who already played in Television Series and Movies. During shooting she became a good friend of me and my camerawoman Christine Munz. Marianne Hamre, who is playing the part of HELEN is mainly known as a theatre actress. At the time she worked at Neumarkt Theater Zürich.

How was the production process?
The film was produced as my final master project at Zürcher Hochschule der Künste. We were very happy that we recieved grants from Swiss Television, Teleclub and several art foundations.

Are you coming to LesGaiCineMad in November to present your film?
No, unfortunatly not. I will attend a filmfestival in Prag (Ceckia) at the same time - also with "Dancing to Happiness". But I`m easily reachable by phone or mail.

¿De qué trata tu película?
Baile a la felicidad es un cuento de hadas lésbico moderno. Los cuentos de hadas como Cenicienta que mis padres me contaron de niña me han inspirado. Como los viejos cuentos tratan siempre de parejas heterosexuales, decidí crear el mío propio en el que dos mujeres pudieran enamorarse: Anna trabaja como señora de la limpieza y cada noche limpia la oficina de Helen, que es una alta ejecutiva que trabaja en la Bolsa. Las dos mujeres viven en mundos muy diferentes y en condiciones normales no se conocerían. Sin embargo, acaban apuntándose a las mismas clases de salsa. Debido a la falta de hombres, Anna y Helen tiene que bailar juntas.

¿Cómo está funcionando en festivales? ¿Ha recibido algún premio? ¿Algún otro mérito destacable?
Baile a la felicidad aún no ha recibido ningún premio pero definitivamente es un éxito del festival. El año pasado se exhibió en alrededor de sesenta festivales por todo el mundo. Ha habido festivales de cortometrajes prestigiosos como Uppsalla Kortfilmfestival en Suecia o Camaraimage en Lodz, Polonia, pero también festivales de películas lésbicas, gays y transexuales como Frameline en San Francisco, Estados Unidos. La película encontró una distribuidora para Norteamérica (Canadian Filmmaker Distribution) y para la parte de Europa donde se habla alemán (Edition Salzgeber). Ahora estoy tratando de encontrar distribuidora para los países cuya lengua es el español.

¿Quiénes son los actores y qué tal fue tu relación con ellos durante la preparación y rodaje de la película?
Fiamma Maria Camesi interpreta el papel principal de ANNA. Es una actriz sueca prometedora y recientemente interpretó series y películas de televisión. Durante el rodaje se convirtió en una buena amiga mía y de mi cámara, Christine Muñiz. Marianne Hamre, que interpreta a Helen, es sobre todo conocida como actriz de teatro. En su momento trabajó en Neumarkt Theater Zürich.

¿Cómo fue el proceso de producción?
La película fue producida como mi proyecto final de master en Zürcher Hochschule der Künste. Nos hizo mucha ilusión recibir subvenciones de la televisión sueca, Teleclub y diversas fundaciones.

¿Vienes a LesGaiCineMad en Noviembre para presentarla?
Lamentablemente no. Iré al festival de cine de Praga en ese mismo momento, también con Baile a la felicidad. Pero estaré accesible por teléfono o correo electrónico.
