What is your film about?
It is a 24-minutes short film about a single woman and her 23 years old son. They live in 101 that is the oldest part in Reykjavik. I don’t know if you have heard about “101 Reykjavik” starred by Victoria Abril… Well, it doesn’t matter. This mother is completely scared of the moment when her dear son will finally leave home, and to avoid it, she is determined to ruin all his relationships with girls. She wants his son to remain as his little dear forever, and take care of her for the rest of his life. But one day, his son has some news to tell…

How is it doing in the festival circuit? Has it received any award? Any other merit?
The film was premiered in “Framline33” festival, San Francisco, in June. Since then, it has been presented to some festivals in Reykjavik, Oslo, Hamburg, New Delhi, and several cities in USA.

Who are the members of the cast and how was your relationship with them?
The leading actress, Helga Braga, is pretty well known and popular in our country. It was a pleasure working with her. I am an actor also, and we have worked together in theater doing plays for kids.
Her son is played by Vidir Gudmundsson. I didn’t know him but he became my first option. He had played Pinocchio in theater and had done several roles in films. He, as an actor, is kind, pleasant, calm, and always avid for learning.
Besides directing, I wrote the script for this film. From my perspective, this film is not just a comedy. There are some very sad moments in the life of this family. They know that they have some problems, but don’t know how to solve them. So the battle must continue.

Are you coming to LesGaiCineMad in November to present your film?
I lived in Barcelona and Madrid for 6 years. Spain is like a second home to me. I would be an honor to be present during the festival in Madrid. I can’t wait for it.

¿De qué trata tu película?
El corto, que es de 24 minutos, trata de la vida de una soltera y su hijo de 23 años. Viven en 101 que es la parte más vieja de Reykjavik. No sé si te suena la película "101 Reykjavik", con Victoria Abril. Bueno, la madre tiene un temor gravísimo, que su querido hijo se mude de casa. Por lo cual, ella procura destruir todas sus relaciones con chicas. Ella quiere que su hijo continúe como su hijito para siempre, y que la cuide el resto de su vida. Un día su hijo le cuenta nuevas noticias.....

¿Cómo está funcionando en festivales? ¿Ha recibido algún premio? ¿Algún otro mérito destacable?
El cortometraje fue estrenado en el festival de “Frameline33”, en San Francisco, en junio. Desde entonces ha ido a festivales en Reykjavik, Oslo, Hamburgo, Nueva Delhi, y a varias ciudades en USA.

¿Quiénes son los actores y qué tal fue tu relación con ellos durante la preparación y rodaje de la película?
La protagonista, Helga Braga, es una actriz muy conocida y popular en nuestro país. Ha sido un placer de trabajar con ella. Yo soy actor, y hemos trabajado juntos, antes en teatro para niños.
El papel de su hijo lo hace Vidir Gudmundsson. No le conocía antes, pero fue mi primer escogido. Antes tenía el papel de Pinocho en el teatro y ha tenido varios papeles en cine. Es un actor muy agradable, tranquilo y paciente, con mucha voluntad de aprender.
Soy el guionista también. Desde mi punto de vista, no es únicamente una comedia. Hay unos momentos muy tristes en la vida de esta familia pequeña. Y ellos se dan cuenta, pero no saben cómo mejorar su situación. Y la batalla continua.

¿Vienes a LesGaiCineMad en Noviembre para presentarla?
Yo viví durante 6 años en Barcelona y Madrid. España es como mi segunda casa .Sería un honor estar presente durante el festival aquí en Madrid. Y no puedo esperar.
