What is your film about?
This documentary recreates the experiences that transsexual women have in a cosmopolitan and double standard city like Guadalajara (Mexico). This documentary is able to submerge itself in a world still barely known, including those in the gay community. A world where discrimination and rejection to what is different and unknown is normal.
Even with the documentary being of deep content it is easy to digest and it is the audience who makes up their own judgments concerning the various topics we deal with in this movie.

How is it doing in the festival circuit? Has it received any award? Any other merit?
We have been invited to festivals related to human rights and on the other hand it has also been chosen to be in some international festivals from different countries like Spain, Argentina, Colombia and Mexico. We are waiting for the official English translation to be able to send “Señorita Sol” (Lady Sun) to an ‘enlightened land’ or any of another language where transsexual women can realize with this documentary that by speaking you can reveal a barely know reality.

Who are the members of the cast and how was your relationship with them?
My main characters are Mitzy, Jarol and Sandy who tell us about their very interesting lifes.
The filming couldn´t have been more fun, after producing with them, I have to say that i don´t only admire and respect these women who are strong against this world that oppresses their wishes and thoughts.

How was the production process?.
It was very difficult, this movie as you can see, did not have any financial funding as other movies of this standard. We have are very satisfied because it was made with a lot of •%$”% -that is with a lot of effort- and I think that in the end the outcome is amazing and it really shows the experiences of these women that very few can tell just by looking at them.

Are you coming to LesGaiCineMad in November to present your film?
Unfortunately not, as a third world country and with such and indy production, the money we have is not enough to promote “Lady Sun” in a successful way.
However I trust that LesGaiCineMad can help me show this documentary to all those that are interested in the subject.

¿De qué trata tu película?
Es un documental que recrea las vivencias de mujeres transexuales en una ciudad como lo es Guadalajara (México). Éste documental tiene la capacidad de sumergirte en un mundo poco conocido por muchos, incluso poco conocido por el ambiente gay, en un mundo donde la discriminación y el rechazo a lo diferente y desconocido es la normalidad de las circunstancias. A pesar de ser un documental profundo en contenido, se puede digerir fácilmente y el público es el que crea su propio criterio con respecto a los diversos temas que se tratan.

¿Cómo está funcionando en festivales? ¿Ha recibido algún premio? ¿Algún
otro mérito destacable?
Ha sido invitado a festivales sobre la defensa de los derechos humanos y por otro lado también ha sido seleccionado en festivales de cine internacionales en diferentes países como en España, Argentina, Colombia y México.
Estamos esperando la traducción oficial al inglés para poder mandar a Señorita Sol a un territorio de habla inglesa u otras lenguas, donde las mujeres transexuales puedan darse cuenta que con este documental, la palabra puede ser usada para dar a conocer una realidad poco contada.

¿Quiénes son los actores y qué tal fue tu relación con ellos durante la
preparación y rodaje de la película?
Pues mis protagonistas principales son MITZY, JAROL y SANDY que cuentan una historia de vida sumamente interesante.
El rodaje no pudo ser más divertido, después de haber hecho la producción con ellas debo decir que sólo tengo toda la admiración y respeto para estas mujeres que pisan firme ante este mundo que oprime sus deseos y pensamientos.

¿Cómo fue el proceso de producción?
Muy difícil, ésta película como pueden ver, no tiene en absoluto el capital con el que otras películas o documentales son producidos, sin embargo podemos estar seguros que los que producimos y nos involucramos en este documental, tenemos la mayor satisfacción pues fue hecho con mucho esfuerzo, y creo que al final de cuentas el contenido es maravilloso y expone vivencias que pocos pueden percatarse al acercarse a ellas.

¿Vienes a LesGaiCineMad en Noviembre para presentarla?
Desafortunadamente no, como tercer mundo y como una producción super independiente el dinero no alcanza para poder promocionar de manera exitosa Señorita Sol.
Sin embargo confío en que LESGAICINEMAD y el Mercado SFM podrá ayudarme a que el documental pueda ser visto por gente que le interese este tema.
