What is your film about?

Bañophobia is a new art expression, a short film we wanted to send out for a very important queer theory and message. The film is about a young girl who is afraid to go to the public restrooms where women constantly confuse her with a man. BañoPhobia is a very critical short film. There are thousands of views of being a woman. However, our sexist society tries to force you to only be one way. Here we criticize women through sense of humor.


How is it working at festivals? Did you get any award?

This is the first festival we are introducing our short film.


Who are the actors and how it was your relationship with them during preparation and shooting the film?

They are all actresses, even the main character Denis Loren that I met in the LesGaiCineMad 2008 after finishing the Gala, and I proposed them to shoot a short film which would be an enriching experience. But if someone should be mentioned especially, it is the famous Dj Shivvy who plays the role of Maruja on Bañophobia , because she was an important support. In the shooting we were around 15 artists and technicians, working just “loving the art” to shout to the world that the term "Bañophobia" exists! In fact we hope that in the future it is included in our dictionary.


How was the production process?

Before shooting we were meeting at the CaféSmoke, in Chueca every Thursday for rehearsals, visualizing what could BañoPhobia become. Producers Oscar Arevalo and Liliana Ferreira made the creation of this work possible- with a cost that young filmmakers like us usually cannot not afford. We were all almost strangers, believing in something, and we became a team that won’t stop working in the world of short film.

Are you coming to LesGaiCineMad in November to introduce it?

I have been living in Madrid for the last 7 years and I’ve never missed LesGaiCineMad so it will be a little hard to miss it this year, and more pleasant with a vindictive reason as BañoPhobia.

¿De qué trata tu película?

Bañophobia es una expresión nueva, un cortometraje con el que queremos emitir un mensaje importante con Teoría y Práctica Queer. Trata de una chica joven que tiene miedo a ir a los baños públicos donde constantemente es molestada por mujeres confundiéndola con un hombre. BañoPhobia es un cortometraje reivindicativo, ya que hay mil formas de ser una mujer por mucho que la sociedad sexista intente obligarte a solo ser de una manera. Aquí se critican a las mujeres machistas a través del humor.

¿Cómo está funcionando en festivales? ¿Ha recibido algún premio?

Este es el primer festival en el que presentamos nuestra propuesta cinematográfica.

¿Quiénes son los actores y qué tal fue tu relación con ellos durante la preparación y rodaje de la película?

Son todo actrices, entre todas, la protagonista Deis Loren que conocí en el mismo LesGaiCineMad 2008 tras terminar la Gala, le propuse rodar el cortometraje y para todo el equipo fue una experiencia enriquecedora. Pero si hay que destacar a alguien es a la famosa Dj Shivvy, que hace de Maruja en BañoPhobia, porque fue un apoyo importante, porque refinó la textura del cortometraje. En el rodaje fuimos un total de 15 artístas y técnicos aguantando por amor al arte con ganas de gritar al mundo de que el concepto "Bañophobia" ¡existe! De echo esperamos que en un futuro la RAE lo adjunte en su diccionario.

¿Cómo fue el proceso de producción?

Antes del rodaje nos estuvimos reuniendo en el Café Smoke de Chueca todos los jueves ensayando, visualizando lo que sería BañoPhobia y podría llegar a ser. Los Jefes de Producción Liliana Ferreira y Óscar Arévalo hicieron posible la creación de la obra a un coste que normalmente los jóvenes realizadores no nos podemos permitir. Casi todos/as éramos desconocidos/as con ganas de hacer algo que nos gustase generando un equipo que no va a dejar de trabajar en el mundo del cortometraje.

¿Vienes a LesGaiCineMad en Noviembre para presentarla?

Vivo en Madrid desde hace 7 años nunca me he perdido el LesGaiCineMad, así que será un poco difícil perdérmelo y más con un motivo agradable y reivindicativo como BañoPhobia.
