What is your film about?
This is the story of Leo, a young man undergoing the complete process of self-acceptation and sexual definition, who meets Caro again, and ex mate from elementary school. He liked her when they were kids and now she is living her own personal crisis. That encounter will affect their conflicts, both ignoring what is really happening to the other one.

How is it doing in the festival circuit? Has it received any award? Any other merit?
The film was selected in the Cinema under Construction 15 (Toulouse, 2009) and later was invited to the San Sebastián Festival in competence (Zabaltegi-New Directors) and to the Latin-American Film Festival of Biarritz. It also was invited to the Latin-American competence of the International Festival of Miami (March 2010).

Who are the members of the cast and how was your relationship with them?
The cast is headed by Martín Rodríguez together with Cecilia Cósero, Gerardo Begérez, Mirella Pascual, Rafael Soliwoda, Carolina Alarcón, Sylvia Murninkas and Leonor Svarcas, between others. And it includes the special participation of César Troncoso and the Argentinean Arturo Goetz. The young cast made mostly their debut in this feature film, and we got on very well, both in the rehearsals and the shooting, since the working atmosphere was of great mutual collaboration and confidence.

How was the production process?
It was a bit slow, as the film production process usually is in Uruguay, but we finally reached a satisfactory result. The search of finance started in 2005, we earn some production funds (FONA in Uruguay, Ibermedia, Global Film Initiative) and we shot it with a limited budget which allowed us to carry out the film that we wanted.

Are you coming to LesGaiCineMad in November to present your film?
Unfortunately, I have no plans of travelling to show this film. Maybe next time.

¿De qué trata tu película?
Es la historia de Leo, un joven en pleno proceso de auto aceptación y definición sexual que se reencuentra con Caro, una ex compañera de escuela primaria de la que gustaba cuando eran chicos, y que ahora vive su propia crisis personal. Ese reencuentro casual va a repercutir en los conflictos de cada uno, sin que ninguno de los dos sepa realmente lo que le pasa al otro.

¿Cómo está funcionando en festivales? ¿Ha recibido algún premio? ¿Algún
otro mérito destacable?
La película quedó seleccionada en Cine en Construcción 15 (Toulouse, 2009) y luego fue invitada en competencia al Festival de San Sebastián (Zabaltegi-Nuevos Directores) y al Festival de Cine Latinoamericano de Biarritz. También ha sido invitada a la competencia iberoamericana del Festival Internacional de Miami (marzo 2010).

¿Quiénes son los actores y qué tal fue tu relación con ellos durante la preparación y rodaje de la película?
El elenco está encabezado por Martín Rodríguez, junto a Cecilia Cósero, Gerardo Begérez, Mirella Pascual, Rafael Soliwoda,
Carolina Alarcón, Sylvia Murninkas y Leonor Svarcas, entre otros. Y cuenta con la participación especial de César Troncoso y del argentino Arturo Goetz. El elenco joven es en su gran mayoría debutante en el largometraje, y nos llevamos muy bien tanto en la preparación como en el rodaje, porque el clima de trabajo fue de gran colaboración y confianza mutua.

¿Cómo fue el proceso de producción?
Fue algo lento, como suele ser el proceso de producción de películas en Uruguay, pero llegamos a buen puerto. La búsqueda de financiamiento comenzó en 2005, ganamos algunos fondos de producción (FONA en Uruguay, Ibermedia, Global Film Initiative) y la hicimos con un presupuesto limitado pero que nos permitió hacer la película que queríamos.

¿Vienes a LesGaiCineMad en Noviembre para presentarla?
Lamentablemente no tengo previsto viajar a presentarla. Otra vez será.
