What is your film about?
Mrs. Carrington is a series (or a soap opera) set in the 50´s. Everything goes around Leona Carrington, an eccentric rich woman who just lost her husband who inherit her one of the biggest fortunes on New York. From that moment, other people would start showing up to scratch part of the inheritance.
It´s a production inspired from the Cinema Noir, with the difference that we have substituted all those great divas with other more current, most of them transvestite like Margot, Tormenta Garcia (Storm Garcia), La Prohibida (The prohibit) and other actors and cameo like the one done by Alaska. Everything started as a Christmas greeting with the Leona Carrington character. The Internet boom pushed us a little bit to start writing the series and here we are, so happy to have done it!

How is it doing in the festival circuit? Has it received any award? Any other merit?
The people that have already seen it in festivals have been delighted by it. Maybe it is the format , the intriguing plot.. I don´t know but the Spanish audience as well as the American and the Latin American have reacted in the same way, fortunately that reaction has always been good. And this year we have received the Best Personal Web award given by the IDEAL newspaper.


Who are the members of the cast and how was your relationship with them?
Very few times I´ve seen such an united team. Everybody got along very well and besides the series they have started parallel projects. I think that is one of the secret for everything to go well.
We worked in our rhythm, the script was writen by my friend Alex who lives in Frankfurt and myself from Granada (Spain), everything was done through internet and videoconference meetings. We are very particular with the script.
The core of the production was formed by barely known people, but little by little other better known artist have been adding themselves to work with us— people I´ve been really pleased to have worked with. La Prohibida for example (Whoso character is La Querida) is set characters of the series. We are getting more famous cameos now, like the one done by Alaska who will appear in the next episodes.

How was the production process?
It´s a production without a budged. Basically we write some scripts, the technical script gets organized and then we fit everyones free time to shoot it. Everything that is wardrobe, make up, hairdressing, and everything else is done by us and with what we can buy. Ii is probably a great production without budged.

Are you coming to LesGaiCineMad in November to present your film?
Yes, I will be there giving everything. Is the first time I go to a festival and I´m really looking forward to it, seriously.

¿De qué trata tu película?
Mrs. Carrington es un serial (o una soap opera) ambientado en los años
50. Todo gira en torno a Leona Carrington, una excéntrica ricachona
que acaba de perder a su marido dejándole en herencia una de las
mayores fortunas de todo Nueva York. Desde ese momento, aparecerán a
su alrededor otros personajes que intentarán arañar su parte de la
herencia.
Es una producción muy inspirada en el cine Noir, con la excepción de
que hemos sustituido a aquellas fantásticas divas por otras más
actuales, travestis en su mayoría como Margott, Tormenta García y La
Prohibida, además de otros actores y cameos como el de Alaska. Todo
surgió de una felicitación navideña con el personaje de Leona
Carrington. El boom en internet nos empujó un poco a escribir la
serie, y aquí estamos, ¡contentísimos de haberlo hecho!

¿Cómo está funcionando en festivales? ¿Ha recibido algún premio? ¿Algún
otro mérito destacable?
La gente que la ha visto en los festivales que hemos estado ha quedado
encantada. Quizá el formato, quizá la intrigante trama... No lo sé,
pero tanto el público Español, como Estadounidense y Latino americano
han reaccionado por igual, y afortunadamente esa reacción ha sido
buena siempre.
Este mismo año hemos recibido el premio a la mejor Web Personal de la
mano del Periódico IDEAL.

¿Quiénes son los actores y qué tal fue tu relación con ellos durante la
preparación y rodaje de la película?
Yo he visto pocas veces un equipo tan unido. Todo el mundo ha
congeniado muy bien, y aparte de la serie han emprendido nuevos
proyectos paralelos. Creo que es uno de los grandes secretos para que
todo salga bien.
Trabajamos muy a nuestro aire, el guión lo escribimos mi amigo Alex que vive en Frankfurt y yo desde Granada (España), todo vía internet y con reuniones por videoconferencia. Somos muy puntillistas con el guión.
El núcleo de la producción lo forma gente poco conocida, pero poco a
poco se han ido apuntando otros artistas mucho más conocidos con los
que he estado encantado de trabajar. La Prohibida por ejemplo (que encarna el papel de La Querida) ya es un personaje fijo en la serie.
Estamos consiguiendo cameos de más famosos, como Alaska, que aparecerá
en los próximos episodios.

¿Cómo fue el proceso de producción?
Es una producción sin presupuesto. Básicamente escribimos unos
cuantos guiones, se organiza todo el guión técnico y se van encajando
horarios libres de todo el mundo para grabarlo. Todo lo que es
vestuario, peluquería, atrezo, maquillaje y demás lo hacemos entre
unos y otros con lo que podemos ir comprando. Es posiblemente una
gran super producción sin presupuesto.

¿Vienes a LesGaiCineMad en Noviembre para presentarla?
Sí, allí estaré dándolo todo. Es la primera vez que acudo al festival
y tengo muchas ganas, la verdad.
