What is your film about?

In the documentary genre are general histories of almost any subject (the labor movement, costumes, cars, etc.) but there wasn’t (at least when this work was conceived) a documentary that looked at homosexuality from a historical perspective. In order to fill that void “La historia escondida” was created, a documentary about the general history of homosexuality since the year 5000 BC to these days with special attention to the homosexual movement in Spain during the twentieth century.

2. How is it working at festivals? Did you get any award?
La historia esocndida’s premiere is this year at Lesgai ...let’s cross our fingers. But American sales agents are interested in the documentary.


3. Who are the actors and how it was your relationship with them during preparation and shooting the film?

Actors? ...this is a documentary. The casts of La historia escondida are all those people through the history felt physically or emotionally attracted to persons of the same sex. The testimonials featured in the documentary are those of (in alphabetical order) Carla ANTONELLI, Ximo CÁDIZ, Mar CAMBROLLÉ, Armand DE FLUVIÀ, Mili HERNÁNDEZ, Arnaldo GANCEDO, Boti GARCÍA, Beatriz GIMENO, Antonio GUIRADO, Miguel Ángel LÓPEZ, Luisa NOTARIO, Jordi PETIT, Antonio POVEDA, Antonio ROIG y Rubén SANCHO. They are important players in this story and I thank them we could use them for the film.

4. How was the production process?
Modest, we decided to do it with or without money. Fortunately we got a little help from the Ministry of Culture through the FELGT. The testimonies were recorded by two people. Images of documents are in the public domain or are generous assignments of the authors.

5. Are you coming to Lesgaycinemad to introduce it?
Of course! We never miss it. It was in this festival where our first documentary was played. All of our LGBT-themed visual works come to the LesGaiCineMad

¿De qué trata tu película?
En el campo del documental existen historias generales de casi cualquier
tema (el movimiento obrero, la indumentaria, los coches, etc.) pero no
existía –al menos cuando se gestó este trabajo– un documental que abordara
la homosexualidad desde la perspectiva histórica. Para cubrir ese hueco nace
LA HISTORIA ESCONDIDA; un documental que aborda la historia general de la
homosexualidad desde el año 5000 a.c. hasta nuestros días prestando especial
atención al movimiento homosexual en España durante el siglo XX.

¿Cómo está funcionando en festivales? ¿Ha recibido algún premio? ¿Algún
otro mérito destacable?
LA HISTORIA ESCONDIDA es un estreno absoluto en esta edición del Lesgaicinemad crucemos los dedos. No obstante un agente de ventas norteamericano ya se ha
interesado por el documental.

¿Quiénes son los actores y qué tal fue tu relación con ellos durante la
preparación y rodaje de la película?
Se trata de un documental. Los protagonistas de LA HISTORIA
ESCONDIDA son todas aquellas personas que a lo largo de la historia se
sintieron física o emocionalmente atraídas por personas de su mismo sexo.
Los testimonios que aparecen en el documental son los de (por orden
alfabético) Carla ANTONELLI, Ximo CÁDIZ, Mar CAMBROLLÉ, Armand DE FLUVIÀ,
Mili HERNÁNDEZ, Arnaldo GANCEDO, Boti GARCÍA, Beatriz GIMENO, Antonio
GUIRADO, Miguel Ángel LÓPEZ, Luisa NOTARIO, Jordi PETIT, Antonio POVEDA,
Antonio ROIG y Rubén SANCHO. Todos ellos son protagonistas destacados de
esta historia y gracias a ellos hemos podido explicarla.

¿Cómo fue el proceso de producción?
Modesto... este era un trabajo que nos apetecía mucho hacer. Decidimos
hacerlo con o sin dinero. Afortunadamente conseguimos una pequeña ayuda del
Ministerio de Cultura gracias a la FELGT. Los testimonios fueron grabados
entre dos personas. Las imágenes de documentación pertenecen al dominio
público o bien son generosas cesiones de sus autores.

¿Vienes a LesGaiCineMad en Noviembre para presentarla?
¡Por supuesto! Nunca faltamos al LesGaiCineMad. Fue en este festival donde
se proyectó nuestro primer documental. Todos nuestros trabajos audiovisuales
de temática LGTB han pasado por el LesGaiCineMad.
