What is your film about?
The smallest airport in the world, where the only taxi driver is drunk and you are stuck on a long night, with your dead father in a plastic bag and a crab that got lost on the way to the seaside. It is about a unique moment, that you cant take with you but you`ll never lose it either.

How is it doing in the festival circuit? Has it received any award? Any other merit?
It has won BEST FILM on the int. Student Film Festival in Tblissi, Georgia, the Promotion award of the Zurich University of the Arts and a special mention of the Jury of int. Filmmfestival Tirana, Albania. „510 meters“ has played until now on over 80 int. Filmfestivals all over the world.

Who are the members of the cast and how was your relationship with them?
Ulrike Schwab and Nicole Lippold; they brought a lot of their real life personalities in their characters, so we were reinventing most of the story on the set while we were shooting. We improvised a lot. For example the dancing scene wasn`t planned like that at all but it seemed the right moment between the two of them.

How was the production process?
We were shooting in April and the weather was incredible, first day it rained, on the second there was a huge snowstorm, on the third one blue sky and sun and so forth but for the story we needed continuity in time/landscape (one night), which was impossible under this circumstances. So I decided to dump the naturalistic illusion also on the timelevel. We tried to adapt the weather to the main topic of the scene, to get an analogy between the atmosphere of the weather and the emotions of the characters. I think in the end the whole crazy weather thing gives the film a plus of poetic ambiance, the story seems almost to happen in between all seasons of the year, so time (and reality) in a way really stops in that night..

Are you coming to LesGaiCineMad in November to present your film?
Hopefully my producer let me go away in the final preparations of our new film..I try my best!

¿De qué trata tu película?
El aeropuerto más pequeño del mundo, donde el único taxista está borracho, alguien atrapado en medio de la noche con su padre muerto metido en una bolsa de plástico y un cangrejo que se ha perdido en su camino hacia el mar. Es sobre un momento único que no puede perdurar pero que no puede ser olvidado.

¿Cómo está funcionando en festivales? ¿Ha recibido algún premio? ¿Algún
otro mérito destacable?
Recibió el premio a la mejor película en el Festival Internacional de Cine de los Estudiantes de Tbilisi, Georgia, el premio a la promoción artística de la Universidad de las Artes de Zurich y recibió la mención especial por parte del Jurado del Festival Internacional de Cine de Tirana, Albania. Hasta el momento la película ha sido proyectada en 80 festivales internacionales alrededor del mundo.

¿Quiénes son los actores y qué tal fue tu relación con ellos durante la preparación y rodaje de la película?
Ulrike Schwab y Nicole Lippold son los actores, quienes aportaron mucho de sus propias personalidades a los personajes, de hecho reinventamos buena parte de la historia durante la grabación. Improvisamos mucho. Por ejemplo la escena del baile no estaba para nada planeada tal como se rodó...pero parecía el momento perfecto entre ambos actores.

¿Cómo fue el proceso de producción?
Rodamos durante el mes de Abril, el clima estaba loco, el primer día lluvia, el segundo tormenta de nieve, el tercero sol y cielo despejado y así todo el tiempo...pero para la historia necesitábamos continuidad en el tiempo y el paisaje (la historia transcurría en una noche), lo que era imposible de conseguir dadas las circunstancias. Así que decidí desechar la idea de una representación realista del tiempo...tratamos de adaptar el clima a la sensación de cada escena, para crear una analogía entre la atmósfera y los sentimientos de los personajes.
Al final toda la locura del clima consigue dotar a la película de un sentido poético, la historia parece que transcurre durante todas las estaciones del año, así que el tiempo (y la realidad) realmente parecen detenidos en esa noche...

¿Vienes a LesGaiCineMad en Noviembre para presentarla?
Afortunadamente el productor de mi próxima película me ha liberado de los últimos preparativos...así que lo intentaré!.
