What is your film about?
A cuestas con mis padres is a completely surrealistic comedy about the history of Pedro, a young man who confesses to his parents his sexual orientation. But afterwards he cannot stop thinking of them. He even starts to imagine them in some of the most awkward situations.

How is it doing in the festival circuit? Has it received any award? Any other merit?
The short took part in the seventh edition of Jameson Notodofilmfest and obtained the award “El Rey del Box Office” for being the most seen short film of the whole festival. Also it has been selected to be projected in different international festivals as the Lima Festival of Cinema Gay Lebian Trans (OutfestPeru), Festival Mix Of Cinema Gaylesbico and Queer Culture in Milan and the Italian Tekfestival.

Who are the members of the cast and how was your relationship with them?
The actors are Isabel Gadea, Joan Manuel Gurillo, Marcos García and Pepe Torres. The most veteran are Isabel and Joan Manuel, they rely on with a wide experience in cinema, theater and television. Whereas, Frames and Pepe are beginners and this was one of their first scripts. The relation with all of them was very good, we understood each other quite well and we really enjoyed the time spent rolling the short.

How was the production process?
The production process was a little complex, since it is always difficult to assemble the whole team. Also it was very hard finding the actress who would interpret the mother, but I believe that finally with Isabel Gadea we hit the target. During the shooting we had some problems that delayed everything but we could finally solve them.

Are you coming to LesGaiCineMad in November to present your film?
Together with the producer, Héctor Alabadí, I will be coming to the LesGaiCineMad in November in order to present our short and to enjoy all that this festival offers.

¿De qué trata tu película?
A cuestas con mis padres es una comedia totalmente surrealista que cuenta la historia de Pedro, un joven que confiesa a sus padres su condición sexual y después no consigue quitárselos de la cabeza. Hasta se los llega a imaginar en situaciones de lo más embarazosas.

¿Cómo está funcionando en festivales? ¿Ha recibido algún premio? ¿Algún
otro mérito destacable?
El cortometraje participó en la séptima edición del Jameson Notodofilmfest y consiguió el premio “El Rey del Box Office” por haber sido el corto más visto de todo el festival. Además ha sido seleccionado para proyectarse en diferentes festivales internacionales como el Festival de Cine Gay Lésbico Trans de Lima (OutfestPeru), Festival Mix Di Cinema Gaylesbico e Queer Culture de Milán y el festival italiano Tekfestival.

¿Quiénes son los actores y qué tal fue tu relación con ellos durante la
preparación y rodaje de la película?
Los actores son Isabel Gadea, Joan Manuel Gurillo, Marcos García y Pepe Torres. Los más veteranos eran Isabel y Joan Manuel, cuentan con una amplia experiencia en cine, teatro y televisión. Mientras que Marcos y Pepe están empezando y estos fueron unos de sus primeros papeles. La relación con todos ellos fue muy buena, nos entendimos bastante bien y lo pasamos genial rodando el corto.

¿Cómo fue el proceso de producción?
El proceso de producción fue un poco complejo, ya que siempre resulta difícil reunir a todo un equipo. Además nos costó bastante encontrar a la actriz que interpretaría a la madre, pero creo que finalmente con Isabel Gadea dimos en el clavo. Durante el rodaje tuvimos algunos problemas que lo retrasaron todo pero fuimos solventándolos.


¿Vienes a LesGaiCineMad en Noviembre para presentarla?
En noviembre estaré junto al productor, Héctor Alabadí, en el LesGaiCineMad para presentar nuestro cortometraje y para disfrutar de todo lo que ofrece este Festival.
