What is your film about?
This miniseries is about two friends that join a gym to improve their appearance. There is Santi, a boy with an “ugly duckling complex”, who falls in love with his personal trainer, who looks like a fashion model. His best friend, Jacobo, and La Chelo, a transvestite that manages the gym, will help him on the tough task of achieving that unreachable love.

How is it doing in the festival circuit? Has it received any award? Any other merit?
Since this is the first time we present this series in a festival, we are very glad for even being selected to participate.

Who are the members of the cast and how was your relationship with them?
Santi, the main character, is Jesús Sanz-Sebastián. I met him in the faculty of Audiovisual Communication and he is a very creative, funny and imaginative guy. We also felt lucky for having Pedro I. Martín Cedillo in our team, who has surprised us with his performance as the flamboyant and frigid Jacobo. Eduardo Morlans, Agustín Galiana y Cayetana Cabezas play La Chelo, Milo and Victoria (La Chelos’s homophobic sister). Moreover, we have the best cameo appearances, with Encarnación Carrillo as Santi’s mother, Javier Rubio being the sexy gym maid, or Teresa del Olmo playing as Concepción, a sort of reflection of what Victoria might be in the future. It was a pleasure working with all of them.
The Actors worked deeply on their characters, but still right before shooting we did some short rehearsals where we shared all that previous work together, so they could receive indications from the creators of the series and me.

How was the production process?
It began in September 2008, when we started to plan how we were going to work as a team and decided the pace of production. In November we shot an introductory episode to be presented in a party to collect some money to support the production, and by the end of January we started the filming for the first season. We shoot on weekends, but there is also lot of time spent on preproduction to make the most of that time. It has been a tough task that we had to combine it with our studies or job, or in some case like mine, both. Anyway, it is very satisfactory to see what we finally achieved and how well it has been received

Are you coming to LesGaiCineMad in November to present your film?
Our series will be participating in the LGTB Film Market. Part of the team will attend to the seminars offered by the organization and screenings of the official selection.

¿De qué trata tu serie?
La serie trata sobre un par de amigos que se apuntan a un gimnasio para intentar mejorar su físico. Allí, Santi, un chico feíto un poco acomplejado, se enamora de su entrenador personal, que parece un modelo de anuncio. Su mejor amigo Jacobo y La Chelo, la travesti que gestiona el gimansio, le ayudarán en su difícil tarea de intentar conquistar ese amor inalcanzable.

¿Cómo está funcionando en festivales? ¿Ha recibido algún premio? ¿Algún
otro mérito destacable?
Éste es el primer festival al que presentamos la serie, así que estamos muy contentos de haber sido seleccionados para formar parte de él.

¿Quiénes son los actores y qué tal fue tu relación con ellos durante la
preparación y rodaje de la película?
Santi, el personaje protagonista es Jesús Sanz-Sebastián, a quién conocí en la facultad de Comunicación Audiovisual. Es un chico muy creativo, divertido e imaginativo. Tenemos la suerte de contar con Pedro I. Martín Cedillo, que nos ha sorprendido con la interpretación de "la loca y frígida" Jacobo. Eduardo Morlans, Agustín Galiana y Cayetana Cabezas interpretan a La Chelo, Milo y Victoria, la hermana homófoba de La Chelo, respectivamente. Además, contamos con colaboraciones episódicas de lujo, como Encarnación Carrillo en el papel de madre de Santi, Javier Rubio como la "pornochacha" del gimnasio, o Teresa del Olmo en el papel de Concepción, un reflejo de lo que podría ser Victoria en un futuro.Es un gustazo poder trabajar con todos ellos
Los actores se preparan a fondo sus personajes antes del rodaje, pero antes de grabar siempre hacemos un pequeño ensayo en el que ponemos en común su trabajo previo con mis indicaciones y las de los creadores de la serie.

¿Cómo fue el proceso de producción?
El proceso de producción comenzó en septiembre de 2008, cuando comenzamos a plantear cómo íbamos a trabajar como equipo y qué ritmo queríamos llevar. En noviembre grabamos un capítulo de presentación, que proyectamos en una fiesta para recaudar fondos, y a finales de enero comenzamos el rodaje de la primera temporada. Hemos grabado los fines de semana, pero también hemos tenido que dedicar mucho tiempo a la preproducción de cada capítulo para poder aprovechar al máximo esos días. Lo cierto es que ha sido un trabajo duro, ya que todos teníamos que compaginar la producción de la serie con los estudios o el trabajo, o en algunos casos como el mío, con ambos. Es muy satisfactorio ver el resultado final y la acogida que ha tenido.
